Budget Update Thank you for your quick response to Steve’s letter about our church financial needs. We had two really good offerings that helped us get through the month. Yet, we still have a way to go. Our operating budget is $342,818.50 and we’ve received $161,885.00 so far. We are still about $1,000.00 behind on bills, and $10,200 behind on apportionments. Let’s remain prayerful, keep the faith, and give faithfully as God provides. Thanks again for your response.

United Children’s Home Information Meeting At the last Church Council meeting on July 18, 2010, there was a lot of discussion regarding the closing and selling of the Selma Campus of The United Methodist Children's Home. The Council felt that there were numerous questions of accountability, structure and philosophy regarding the Children's Home. As a result, the Council voted to send a letter to Mr. Steve Hubbard, President and CEO of The United Methodist Children's Home, Dr Philip McVay, District Superintendent, and Bishop Paul Leland inviting them to visit our congregation and give a presentation to clarify all the current issues regarding the direction and mission of The United Methodist Children's Home.
Mr. Hubbard and the Chairman of the Board of The United Methodist Children's Home, Mr. Juddy Stephenson, have agreed to meet with our congregation on Sunday September 19th immediately following the Morning Worship Service and a covered dish meal. We hope you will plan to attend this informative meeting. We all desire understanding and God's guidance regarding this important ministry. |

Children's Church will resume on September 12, 2010 for children in K3, K4, and K5. We have the Children's Church curriculum ready for the fall. The material will be similar to what we have been using. We have a lesson outline for teachers to use and all the material will be provided just as we have been doing for the last two years. We need 6 more volunteers who would be willing to lead Children's Church on a rotating basis. We currently have only 2 teachers and we must have more help in order for this ministry to be successful. We will have a short meeting on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 5:15 to go over the lesson plan and the schedule. Anyone who would like to volunteer to teach can join us at the meeting or they can call the office (382-5872), Julie Coleman (437-1559) or Melissa Boswell (437-6137) so that we can put a schedule in place now that summer is over. We also have a curriculum that could be used for children in grades 1-3 if anyone would like to volunteer to lead that age group. Thank you in advance for volunteering to serve. |
